Katie Cooley is a graduate from The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA '23). She received her BFA degree in Design and Technology with an emphasis in Scenic Design, Scenic Artistry, and Scenic Construction. She is currently a second year MFA Scenography student at The University of Kansas (KU '27).

She is a freelance designer, and artist based in the Kansas City area. Currently, she is working on the scenic design for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee at The University of Kansas. Previous work in KCMO has been seen at The University of Kansas, Rockhurst High School and Stage Right Performing Arts. Previous work in DFW has been seen at Circle Theatre, Upright Theatre Company, Kids Who Care, Artisan Center Theatre, The University of Texas at Arlington, and Collin College.

She recently received the Sharon Sobel Regional Costume Design award for her non-realized design of Blood Wedding from The Kennedy Center Region 5. She also received another award from The Kennedy Center Region 5 for Representation, Equity and Diversity Principles in her Blood Wedding design. She is a member of USITT, and has recently studied scenic painting at Cobalt Studios in White Lake, New York.​​
